“You’re fighting a losing battle, honey.”
Those were not the words that Ruby wanted to hear.
The blond turned on her heels in two seconds and spotted Amy standing in a nearby doorway, alone, shockingly. Ruby had a small cluster of demons with her—small, because this was a rescue mission, not a battle—and she narrowed her eyes, pulling her knife out almost instantly before starting to stalk towards the other demon.
“Where the hell is my son?” It was probably the oddest thing to ever come out of her mouth, and she was never going to get used to it, but it was the truth, and if Amy had harmed him, so help her, she would destroy her—Fallen or not.
She never thought she would have a son, but now that she actually did, she was more protective than she had ever been of Sam. She had only had Sam for so long, but now she had something that was theirs, a piece of both of them, who had grown up into something fantastic, and she wasn’t going to lose him to the scum that had made her life hell for so long. The Triad had picked the wrong demon to screw with, and she was going to make sure they knew it, if it was the last thing she did.
“Easy, sweetie. Gonna give yourself a heart attack,” Amy replied, crossing her arms in front of her chest as she turned to face her. “And I don’t know where your son is, so down, girlie. You’re not going to get any information from me.”
Ruby lowered the knife slightly, before giving her a glare. “I don’t have time for your shit right now.”
“You’re never going to find him—you know that, don’t you?” Amy replied, raising an eyebrow as she moved closer. “Barbatos wants to cut him to pieces. Stolas—he’ll play mind games with him for hours until he’s completely gone, and Phoenix? She’ll just watch and enjoy the carnage.”
“They lay one hand on him and I’ll kill them all.”
“Sure, honey. Go ahead, go all mama grizzly over three of the most powerful Fallen who happen to be around right now,” Amy shook her head slightly. “The only way this is going to end is bloody—don’t you get that?”
“So what are you trying to say, huh?” Ruby asked, raising an eyebrow. “That I shouldn’t at least try.”
“Oh, no—try all you want. Go on, get yourself killed. Or hope that Michael inherited some of his father’s immunity to the demonic light show. But they are not going to let him go without a price. You better be prepared to lose something as well.”
Ruby scoffed slightly. “They’re going to be the one’s paying the price. I’m going to slaughter every last one of them.” She glared back at Amy before shaking her head. “Thanks for wasting my time, Amy. Good to see you.” She started to head off, nodding to the other demons to follow her, and Amy rolled her eyes before shouting after her.
“You brought this on yourself, you know that?” Amy waited until the blond turned around to face her again before continuing. “You and Sam with your company and your micromanagement. You can’t control everything. There are people who aren’t going to fall into your spectrum.”
“What part of I don’t have time for this did you not understand?” Ruby said, snapping around to look at her.
“You built that building, and you made yourselves a big fat fucking target,” Amy replied. “You think you’re helping us? You screwed us, Ruby. There were never meant to be shades of gray, no matter how much you human pieces of shit wanted there to be.” There was a heavy sigh as she brushed her hair away from her eyes with a dark red flash. “Besides, your son is an abomination to begin with. Rare, isn’t it? When an abomination is angelically created?”
Ruby turned on her heel flatly and started charging in the other woman’s direction, knife in hand again. She started to tighten her grip on the handle before one of the demons raised an arm to stop her, holding her back slightly. “You know nothing about my son.”
“I know enough to know that he’s trash. The son of a half-breed immortal and a demon. Yeah—that sounds real kosher.” At that, Amy turned on her heel and sauntered back towards the building, brushing Ruby off like she was a gnat on her shoe. “Good luck, honey. Hope there’s something left of him when you get there.”
The other demon continued to hold her back until Amy was gone, and once she was, she pushed him off her with a shove, taking a deep breath to compose herself before continuing to follow the demon’s trail.
“Swear one day I’m going to kill that bitch.”

Date: 2009-02-26 02:22 pm (UTC)Oh! I remembered! I was thinking that Ruby -- very frustrated, understandably -- pretty much comes up empty on where to find Michael, so Michael is alone with the demons for a few days?
